We are thrilled to announce that the IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer’s will return on Sunday, May 29, 2022 in 21 communities across B.C. The family-friendly event is a way to honour and remember the people in your lives who have been affected by dementia, while raising valuable funds for the Alzheimer Society of B.C.

Funds raised at the event will ensure that people in your community affected by dementia have access to support, education and information, as well as enabling research into the causes of and cures for dementia.

Each Walk is dedicated to an honouree – someone who has been affected by dementia or who has valuably contributed to the lives of people living with the disease.

Events will adhere to current public health guidelines, and there is a ‘Walk your way’ option for anyone who is unable to attend an in-person event.

As the provincial election approaches on October 24, there has never been a better time for all of us to raise our voices and bring attention to dementia and the thousands of British Columbians affected.

An open letter to B.C.’s political parties from the Alzheimer Society of B.C.

In the lead up to the election, the Society asked people affected by dementia about the issues they would like to ensure our next provincial government takes action on. On behalf of families affected by dementia across the province, we wrote an open letter to the B.C. NDP, Liberal and Green Parties, outlining priorities for dementia care and support. You can read and share our letter here. You will find the official responses we've received below so you can stay informed as we approach the election.

Join us by raising your voice! Sharing your own experience with dementia is a great way to get provincial leaders thinking about the impact that dementia has on our communities. Get involved by downloading our letter template and dementia factsheet to send to your local candidates before election day. Even if you have already cast or decided your vote, it is meaningful to let all local candidates know that this is an important issue for you.

Voting accessibility

Elections BC has services available to support you whether you are voting in-person or remotely.

During the pandemic, vote-by-mail is an option available to anyone who does not wish to vote in-person. To order your vote-by-mail package, you will need to provide your name, date of birth, address and one of the following identification numbers:

Your B.C. driver's license number
Your B.C. Identification Card number
The last six digits of your Social Insurance Number
The last six digits of your Personal Health Number

You will also need to provide a telephone number or email address. To order your vote-by-mail package click here. The deadline to request vote-by-mail is October 17.

「關愛腦友記」電視籌款日

卑詩省阿茲海默症協會今年將再次與新時代電視共同製作「關愛腦友記」電視籌款日，並於11月13日晚上8時正於新時代電視全國播放及進行電視籌款。

此活動所籌得的慈款將用作拓展華人社區的服務、提供教育項目、資訊及支援腦退化症患者及其家人，並且資助研究找出原因及治療方法。節目內容包括卑詩省阿茲海默症協會如何於疫情下支援受腦退化症影響的人士、故事分享、醫生及家屬照顧者訪問、卑詩省阿茲海默症協會的支援服務及教育項目，以及阿茲海默症的研究及進展等等。

The Alzheimer Society of B.C. will once again be partnering with Fairchild Television to host the 2021 Telethon for Alzheimer’s, which will be broadcasted nationwide on Saturday, November 13 at 8 p.m. on Fairchild TV. The event aims to raise much needed funds to support the Society’s services, education, and awareness efforts for people affected by dementia in the Chinese community, as well as valuable research to find the cause and a cure for Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias.

The program will feature a variety of insightful content, including information about the Society’s programs and services, education and awareness efforts, research directions and support for people affected by dementia during COVID. The program will also share stories, interviews with doctors, family members and caregivers, and much more.
